Getbhavcopy: Free NSE and BSE data downloader

Hi , Hemen

I am getting following error while downloading BSE data through Getbhavcopy. Please give me the solution urgently.

Error BSE Processor cannot open temporary bhavcopy file
Error Could not find file 'C:\Getbhavcopy\temp\BSEbhav.gbc'.
Message ********* Data download complete *********

Bse data is not downloading due to this error

Amit,

You are trying to download data for 24th April. Obviously the market is still in session and the data file is not generated for 24th. The error is expected.

Try downloading for 23rd. It will not happen.

Ok, Do the following

First delete the log file in the logs directory and the files in the temp directory of Getbhavcopy.

Then do the following

1. Start the command prompt , Start >> run >> cmd

2. Change to the directory where you have getbhavcopy.exe

3. In that directory start getbhavcopy as 'getbhavcopy.exe debugOn'

4. Try to download the data as you do normally.

5. A new log file will be generated. Email it to me. Email address is in the private message i sent you.

The real problem people are facing is .net 3.5 . As this is new version; most of the machines don't have it. As soon as they download it; most of the problems go away.

I updated for 3.5 but still the same problems. Earlier versions used to work fine. Here is error log

hemen i am getting the same problem......as a result bsedata is not downloading...........

we have a nse bhav.gbc in the template when getbhavcopy is downloaded............

but the bsebhav.gbc is not seen and as a result the data downloaded is not processed..and created into a notepad file.............

So there are two different kinds of errors discussed in this thread making it a bit confusing.

So this is my clarification.

Those who get the " Error    The remote server returned an error: (403) Forbidden. " error, I have not been able to figure out what is worng. The fact that youget a 403 means the NSE server actually returned it and the communication was successful. I think it to be some temporary issue with NSE server and you should try downloading after some time (about an hour or so). If you consistently get this issue for more than a day, let me know.

Please check if the BSE data download completed successfully.

Check the log a bit above for a message like this

Since there was not error generated during download the data download was fine. Now even after a successful download you get the error Could not find file 'C:\Getbhavcopy\temp\BSEbhav.gbc' then i think you can try deleting the temp directory and try again.

I checked the debug logs obtained from p_hardikar and I did not find any issues in the log.

Let me know if others are facing this issue.

@nkot : I cannot do anything about the 500 Internal server error. It is an error on NSE end. The only suggestion I have is to retry after some time.

@maddys90: As the message suggests, please download the latest version from my site. You need to be a member of my site to reach the download page. Registration is FREE.

@cirilo: Same advice as nkot. I have seen the NSE server behaving badly these days. Hence I changed the way i download the CSV file for indices. I suggest you retry after some time. The issue will auto resolve itself as it is not with Getbhavcopy but with NSE.
