From April 29, 2011 onwards, after the expiry of the April 2011 future series, the future series data appears to be incorrect. The three active month series (May, June, July 2011 in this case) are identified by TICKER-I, TICKER-II and TICKER-III respectively. After the April series expiry, what should be TICKER-I data, is being saved under TICKER-III.

A minor issue, I am sure, but let me know a workaround.

Here is a quick and dirty workaround -

1. open the file in excel.

2. Go to first stock ticker (i think its 3i Infotech). This is after all the index tickers..usually towards 16th row or so.

3. Select 1st column till the end i.e. all tickers starting 3i Infotech to the last ticker (i think that would be Zee). Make sure you select only the 1st column.

4. Sort it alphabetically. Excel will prompt for expanding the range. Click "No". Basically you want to sort only the 1st column.

5. Save the file as csv. Use this file in place of original file.

I noticed this issue sometime back and also posted about the same. While we wait for the change in software, we can use this simple workaround. (takes under a minute once you get used to these steps). I have been using it to make updates and it works fine after these additional steps.

(i found that the issue is caused by some contracts that are not traded in the day. e.g. if ABC-III is not traded, and DEF is the next ticker, it starts with DEF-III instead of DEF-I)

mTrader

Thanks!

Though one may use a RegEx search & replace in 3 steps to swap the texts "*-I" with "*-III" after opening the file in excel.

Data Error is due to - ChenaiPetro II & III , OrbitCorp II & III does not get download, Hence remaining scripts give Error. Any workaround for this ?

Sir, can U make a selective option for downloading the series I , II , III  which may solve the Error because sometimes there is a mistake in nse bhavcopy itself.
