Dear Sri. Hemen,

You may include company name, which will be useful when we go by name say UTI GOLD ETF and its ticker is GOLDSHARE. IndiaVix is included in NSE Bhav copy as index, but it is not coming up in GetBhav. Your utility is quick to fetch data, and that's the beauty. -nakoez

Hi nakoez,

The bhavcopy file provided by NSE does not contain the script names, it just contains the symbols. If you are using metastock you can easily set the name of the script using the 'Downloader' utility. This is a one time activity for any stock which does not have the name.

As for the NSE Indices, I download them from here, which does not contain VIX in it. Downloading VIX is a totally different approach and does not fit well in the object oriented architecture of Getbhavcopy2.0.

If too many peoply ask for VIX then I can decide to add a special class to download VIX.

Can the users comment.

In Amibroker, is there an equivalent to the 'Downloader' utility of MetaStock, as described above? Full company names for NSE scripts are a problem specially for new entrants.

Hello,

AmiBroker supports automatic assignment of names to the scrips if they are included in the data file. If the data file only contains the symbol, you will have to do it using View>>Symbol Information window and then specifying the name under Full Name. Once done, it shows this name as tooltip when you move your mouse over that scrip in Symbols window.

I hope this helps.

Best regards,

AmiBroker-India

Thanks for your reply, AmiBroker-India. Yes, this is exactly what I've been doing so long. But this method is manual and tedious.

Another way out is to create a comma-separated txt file with only the symbols and company names and manually import the data once into the system.

Here again, you'll have to manually type in the details. Anybody knows where to get an updated file with these details?

Hi,

For now i think VIX is the overall volatility index for the market in whole. I havent seen the data availabe on a stock basis. It would be good to see if such a data is available.

For now payment through Paypal is the only option I accept. If you want to donate 200 Rs, then donate 4 $ (since 50 x 4 = 200) using the paypal option.

Do not worry about credit card security. It is 100% secure.

Please ensure you do not pay using any publicly used computer like in a cyber cafe etc. Payments from your personal computer is very secure.

Dear Swamy,

It is possible in AB to import company names with the Import wizard of AB. For import, You may follow these steps.

1) Create a comma separated text file with company symbol and companyname.

2) Run Amibroker >> File >> Import Wizard.

3) Press 'Pick Files' Button and select the CSV file created as at 1)

4) In the next window Select the fields TICKER & FULLNAME.

5) Select 'Skip 0(Zero) linesor 1 line depending on whether the Companynames file has a header or not.

6) Select the option "No Quotation Data" as this file contains only company names and does not contain stock quotes.

7) Click "Finish' to start the import of company names by AB.With in afew seconds the job is done and you will be able to see thw company names in the charts and in all the relavant locations.

Hemen,

About Company name, after going though the posts here, I tried the available option from Downloader of MetaStock. It said Patch was sucessful.  But when I tried to view the data, I did not find names of company updated or replaced in meta stock data with me. Any way out ?
