whether it is possible to get series(EQ) column in text file downloaded by getbhavcopy. It is because, I have past 5 years NSE data files in EQ format. I use Amibroker as charting software and as per my setting script name apperars(in Ami) eg. GAILEQ. how to go ahead with getbhavcopy coz we donot get EQ here. please ...

1) Add All your symbols to a  AB watchlist.

2) Export that watchkist to a csv file.

3) Open that csv file with Excel.

4) In the next entire column, enter 

=A1&"EQ"

and save as a plain text file (NOT Excel)

This will generate the corresponding 'EQ' symbols for each plain symbol.

5) Make a special AB format file for assigning an alias to each symbol.

This may be something like:

# by AmiBroker's ASCII Import Wizard

$FORMAT Ticker, Alias, Skip, Skip, Skip, Skip, Skip

$SKIPLINES 1

$SEPARATOR ,

$CONT 1

$GROUP 255

and import the Plain Text file as if you were importing the bhav copy.

6) This will assign an alias name to each of your ticker. For example, ACC ticker is assigned an alias name ACCEQ.

Next time you import a Bhav copy into your database, either without the 'EQ' extention, (Like ACC), the data will be traeted as if it belongs to ACCEQ.

This method, though cumbersome, is a one time affair, and may meet your requirement.

Caution: I have used this method for importing the 'Company Names, but not for 'ALIAS'.
