Just tried downloading from way back ..i.e. 9 Dec 2009 till today. the data downloaded fine except for 6/1/2010. Seems like an issue with BSE server. May be applying some code change or something.

I recommend waiting for one day and if the issue continues escalate it in the forum.

Strange. As i mentioned in my original post I tried downloading data from 9th Dec to 6th Jan continuously for all days. It downloaded correctly for 4th too.

Can you try playing around with the BSE indices setting of Ascending / Descending. I think now it should be Ascending as BSE seems to have rectified the issue on their end.

If you are still hitting issue then we can delve furthur. Search the forums to enable 'debugOn' mode in Getbhavcopy to enable extended logging.

Hi Hemen,

I am also having similar problem for downloading the NSE data. As you adviced I  ran the bhavcopy with 'debugOn'. I found the log entries are pointing  to the URL http://www.nseindia.com/content/historical/EQUITIES/2010/1/cm0712010bhav.csv.zip for downloading the bhavcopy from NSE.  After that I manually tried to download from NSE website and verified the URL and I found there is minor diffrence in  date part of the URL. The NSE URL is renamed to "JAN" instead of 1 which I highlighted with big fonts in the above URL. The NSE url was http://www.nseindia.com/content/historical/EQUITIES/2010/JAN/cm07JAN2010bhav.csv.zip.

Sametime I am just wondering how others are able to download the files.  I am not sure that my observations are correct.

Cheers,

Paul.

That is really strange. Making this topic a sticky to ensure it gets maximum participation to see the general trend or experience of the users. Right now i do not see a lot of people reporting this. I am also checking this at my end.

dear sir,

i downloaded bse historic data ,and also all due eods with gbc

but i cant update it as usually ican do in nse.

mean the downloaded files are not converted and updated .

i tried both way ,header and w/o headers.

i request also to upload recent bse metastock historic folder

as it gives eorrors too while converting for bse

there is no problem in nse doing this.

Hi Hemen,

I got the solution for the problem and I hope others can also try this option. Previosly the DATE format in my PC was in YYYY-MM-DD fromat. I changed the the format by going to the Control Panel->Regional Settings to DD-MM-YYYY. After that I tried to download the data and worked very fine.

Also I verified the log by running with debugOn, now the URL is generating correctly as follows http://www.nseindia.com/content/historical/EQUITIES/2010/JAN/cm08JAN2010bhav.csv.zip

All other guys who is having similar problem can try after changing the Date format from Regional settings

Cheers,

Paul.

yes, for me too the problem was rectified. well, actually it was never much of a problem, cause it amounted to losing one day of bse indices data only.

what is the error you get? Can you paste the logs? Also try deleting the temp folder and download again.
