Dear Hemen,

Though I haven't been using Getbhavcopy (once again, thanx for your selflessness in providing this wonderful software), for a great length of time, but it seems that some of the indices viz. NSE Midcap 50, NSE Realty, etc are not downloaded. Am I the only one facing this anomaly or is this an inbuilt quirk? If so, then can it be addressed without you working up too much of a sweat ?

That is an NSE issue and will auto resolve itself once NSE starts generating the Indices data. This happened once earlier and it got resolved in 2 days. It is happening again now and i hopr it will be resolved by Tuesday by NSE.

Getbhavcopy was not throwing an error earlier when indices data was not available. version 2.0.5 was released for that (i.e. to display error in such case)

Dear Hemen Hi!, My Query came at a time when people were facing a problem with indices data for 07 Aug 09. This was due to data not being available at NSE server itself. (I checked after I found that the data didn't seem to be downloaded by Getbhavcopy's older version), so probably you misunderstood my query. What I meant was that in addition to the indices being generated by Getbhavcopy, there are a couple more indices available on NSE server now viz. NSE Midcap 50, CNX Infrastructure and CNX Realty etc (the shariah indices are a matter of preference). The link "http://www.nse-india.com/content/indices/ind_histvalues.htm" On this page one can check from the drop down menu of 'index' as to the indices available. Presently I am manually downloading the data separately for the same and wondered if these indices could also be incorporated in Getbhavcopy as a standard download if this does not impose detrimentally upon your time. Regards, P.S - With regard to suggestions for improvement of the software, I endorse all the inputs given by murthymsr. P.P.S - Just a minor afterthought query - did you get the clean data from rmike's upload (for NSE only) from Traderji?! Regards,

yes rockx, i also share the views on addition of new nse indices in get bhavcopy. though we have the bse indices, but nse do seems to have started some really new ones.

dear heman please look into the matter, and also please nse f & o function in getbhavcopy. this will make the software 'complete' in terms of equities.

regards

I also use http://www.nse-india.com/content/indices/ind_histvalues.htm to download the historical data for indices. However not all indices in the dropdown on the page follow OLHC pattern.

From the ones that do, I believe I am download all except 1. I have included that index in my current code for 2.1.0 but there is whole lot of development pending so will take some time to release it.

Dear Hemen,

Thanks for your reply. Would appreciate incorporation of NSE Midcap 50 in your new GBC Avatar. Since you already are on the path to 2.1.0 may I submit a couple of suggestions for implementation, if feasible

1.   F&O data

2.   Resolution of OI figures as pointed out by murthymsr in this post "http://www.getbhavcopy.com/apps/forums/topics/show/1096811-total-deliverable-quantity-for-nse-equities-open-interest-"

3.   The facility for selection of individual scrips/ watchlist for data download (as in amiquote). I know that you are not convinced of this feature in principle but it would be a great help for historical download of a ticker deleted by mistake or to download BSE Indices only for people who trade only NSE but may like to refer to the well established BSE indices for overall market guidance view.

4.   Fundamental Data. Not available in NSE servers but available in FI websites (any helpful passerby reading this may provide the url or link! )

Regards,

NSE (cash) is very misleading since it does not contain gaps... so if NSE Nifty Fut could be made available?
